New stuff and stuff

Not too good with names for news articles, am I?

So I’ve been away from my posting routine (coughs at “routine”) for a while, and in the meanwhile things were happening.

Such as in mid-June I was playing a noise gig in front of CAC Vilnius as part of the opening of the exhibition Blood and Soil, on one hand exploring the noise of the city, on the other as a critique of a sorts of the concept itself, which comes through as somewhat political, yet its politics is dismantled even in the accompanying text. So much for politics in arts. The exhibition still has a piece of mine (how poetic) in it, and it’s available to listen to it until mid-August. It’s designed to lull you for some 10-15 minutes and haunt you for another 10-15, please go into that black corridor for the ultimate experience.

I’ve also been a part of EMEM (Elevated Memory Elevated Manor) art festival in Trakų Vokė manor house. As per usual, I was agitated and frustrated to get a VERY noisy set into such a pristine and haute-couture sorts of a location, but I feel it was a great sound + location choice. I am working at present on how to express my environmental anguish through sound, and I think I’m finding a way to do that. I hope to be able to record the stuff which is cluttering the back of my mind through the summer and maybe release something decent during autumn or winter.

What next. Ah yes, a new piece of mine (it does sound weird, doesn’t it?) will be part of a new Lithuanian (post)industrial compilation to be released sometime in autumn by Lithuanian Music Information Center. That one will be (I think) freely available, will drop a link as soon as it’s out. However, it’s gonna be the shortmix of the piece, and the full length (’cause drone needs a decent length, doesn’t it?) will probably find its place in something upcoming mentioned previously.

Upcoming: a gig in Rokiškis contemporary art festival Start|as, probably 7th of Sept, a not-confirmed-thing on that same day in Kaunas, still questionable, and sound for Anesthetize in Faro (PT) in mid-Sept.

Oh and as an organizer I am getting together people working on dystopian futures, posthumanism, cyborgs, loops and control for an Asymposium in the context of the programme Matters. Platform for Industrial Culture, part of ECoC Kaunas 2022,  which I curate at present, not sure for how long. Join in join in for the Asymposium, should be good stuff. All events open to public.

p.s. pic is a randomly selected photo from my stay in Portugal earlier this year, in a residency of Montemor-o-Novo with Mauricia | Neves on her Anesthetize.
