Less silences

Year 2018 and 2019 has started in the best way possible: residing in residencies (since mid Dec at Arts Printinghouse Vilnius, since mid Jan in O Espaço do Tempo in Montemor-o-Novo and since end Jan – in CCC/Vila Flor in Guimaraes) creating the sound universe for Anaesthetise, contemporary dance piece by Mauricia Barreira Neves, with Ruta Butkus, Greta Grinevičiūtė, Beatriz Diaz and Vera Martins. I am super excited! Today we’re doing the technical preps for the show in this wonderful black box of CIAJG, with the support of a brilliant technical team, and in five days I’m gonna be droning the shit out of this place! \m/ I learned so many new things while working on this soundtrack, I can’t believe it. I am high as a kite, and it’s all just on pure excitement, I swear.
In the meanwhile I somehow managed to remix Waking Hours from summer 2016 (the new version is pretty different, thus deserves a new name, such as “Nobody Sleeps When I Love You”) and make it into something louder and darker to fit the moods of “I Love You“, a piece by Otomo de Manuel, French performance artist / director / choreographer, whose work, when I saw it sometime in 2008 in Nancy, has opened the door for me to the world out there. Corps / Souterraine biennials that he used to organise and the T.O.T.E.M. in Nancy were the spaces that introduced me to art which I only felt should be out there.
Also at the moment it looks like this year I’m gonna play live more often, which is lovely, I missed this so so much. There also are a couple of collaborations coming up, I just hope all of this is manageable.
Last summer in Hambach Forest I met one person that said to me: “I love my life”. At that moment I was totally confused thinking “what the fing f, dude? Is that ever possible?” But today I am thinking exactly the same thing – I love my life, and I am humbled to have all these opportunities and so very grateful to all those wonderful people that trust me, support me, believe in me more that I do myself.
I didn’t mean to sound so positive. This just happened. Never again.
